Choose The Right Curtain Rods Design For Your Dream Home
Curtain rods have come a long way as they have shed their simplicity to adopt a gorgeous look. Now you don't need to hide your curtain rods with the draperies or valance anymore. There is an array of curtain rods are waiting for you to choose from.

Finding properly sized curtain panels for my room to block out light.?
I am trying to find properly sized curtain panels for my room. The purposes of the panels are 1. to block out bright light coming from outside at night and 2. privacy. I saw some huge thing in Wally World for blocking out light, but again... it's huge. I'm having a hard time finding the size. The window is approximately 47 inches x 47.5 inches. Does anyone have any ideas? I could probably get a specialty store to cut the treatment custom for me, but I don't want to pay much as I'm a college student and won't be here too long.

I don't know where you are located but a few good places to get inexpensive curtains are JC Penney, Sears, IKEA, Boscov's (Pennsylvania).
Our bedroom window looks out over the parking lot, and since we're on the ground floor, it was like sleeping in a cheap motel with car headlights at all hours beaming into the room. Felt really "public" our first week and I think the neighbors got "an eyeful" once or twice...ooops!
You can hang curtains without drilling holes in the wall for brackets by getting some "spring tension rods". I bought two rods and did a "cafe curtain" effect, by putting one rod across the top part of the window and another about half way down. On both rods, I put up some dark burgundy colored lightweight curtains. There is a pocket along the top of each curtain panel that I was able to feed the curtain rod through.
Since our windows are not insulated, and the room got chilly during the winter, I purchased a pair of insulated curtains from the JC Penney Fall/Winter catalog (ought to be available now) that cost about $35. They do a great job of blocking the light AND keeping the Pennsylvania cold out in the winter. On a heavier spring tension rod, I hung these curtains with little metal rings that open up like a clipboard clip and grip the top pleats of the insulated curtain. Along the top of each curtain I have about 7 clips (depending on the width of the panel). The total cost was about $60-$75 (rods, clips, cheap lightweight curtains, etc.).
If your window frame already has brackets for shades, you can buy "room darkening" roller shades.The size of your window sounds odd so you might have to go to a hardware store (or someplace like Sears, Home Depot or Lowes) and get the normal size shades and have them cut. You can buy the shades there, too.
Don't forget, when you are measuring to include the frame around the window in the measurement or you'll end up with a space all around the shade that'll (guess what?) LET THE LIGHT IN!
You can go to www.jcpenney.com and look at their catalog online and order. By the end of next week you can have new curtains!! And PRIVACY.
