Orion Ornamental Iron Introduces Award Winning Product
Orion Ornamental Iron has recently introduced another award-winning new product: the Clip-A-Crown blind valance. "Our new Clip-A-Crown product is a lightweight, decorative metal valance which fits on any blinds – either new or already installed," said Sunil Patel, CEO of Orion. Explanation:
n = the principle quantum number, and refers to the orbital energy (size) [the "2" from the 2s; the "4" from the 4p, etc...
l = called the angular momentum quantum number, and refers to the orbital SHAPE. You see the l quantum number represented as the letters "s,p,d,f" which correspond to l values of 0,1,2,3 respectively.
ml = magnetic quantum number, and refers to the orbital ORIENTATION. If you know the 2p orbitals, you know there are 3 subshells - each on an x, y, or z plane. The ml numbers are labeled as integers from -l to +l (the l quantum number). So, in the 2p orbital, there are the ml numbers
[-1,0,+1] (aka x,y,z). So if we had a d orbital, the ml values would be [-2,-1,0,+1,+2]
ms = this is the "spin" quantum number and refers to the direction of an electron's spin. The numbers are either +½ or -½, because a subshell can have only a maximum of two electrons, with opposite spins. For convention, we normally apply a positive value for the first electron.
